Compliments and welcome to Bigard Memorial Seminary situated atop the heights of Enugu, the Coal City, East of the Niger river. Bigard is an ecclesiastical institution dedicated to the training of candidates for priestly ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. It is jointly owned and administered by the Catholic Bishops of the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province of Nigeria. It serves dioceses and religious congregations throughout the province and beyond.
Starting as St. Paul's Seminary, Onitsha, in 1922 with five pioneer seminarians, the seminary experienced decades of peregrination before it permanently settled at Enugu, with its present name in honour of Stephanie and Jeanne Bigard. Presently, with her three campuses and one off-campus hostel, Bigard has 85 members on the academic staff, 1255 students and many non-academic staff who render auxiliary services in various departments of the seminary.
Over the years, our seminary has produced 3 Cardinals, 10 Archbishops, 26 bishops and numerous priests as well as many other prominent members of the Church and the society.
